PRO-TIP/ TRICK:

For those wanting touch scrolling while primarily using pen input, your OS can somewhat provide this functionality even if Logos hasn't explicitly coded for it.

Go into "Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink" and make sure that "Let me use my pen as a mouse in some desktop apps" as well as "Ignore touch input when I'm using my pen".

After making those changes, if you have Logos open, restart it. The changes only take affect on application load. Upon restart, you can use your pen to select, interact, etc. but you should also notice that you can scroll with your finger across the app and NOT have to just use the scroll bar.

This isn't a perfect solution as the OS is providing translated support for functionality that wasn't explicitly designed but it's is a good stop-gap until Logos makes intentional application updates to address this.

Should work in Win10 environments, not sure of OS application support for Pen devices in earlier version of Windows.

I want to be able to consistently use touch scrolling with a finger or pen throughout the app. From the Dashboard Home to each app. I use a Microsoft Surface PRO 7 and it is great to do studies on. However, the small scroll bar on the right is just too small to see or use with touch scrolling. Compare the app to the web version of app.logos.com. I if I use the web version it works fine but it slower. I want that in the app version on the computer to be able to scroll with touch or pen. Thank you.

For users having difficulty with selecting text with a touchscreen, assuming you have Windows 10, you can right click on the taskbar and select the show touchpad option. This will bring up the touchpad icon, and you can click this to bring up a virtual touchpad when you are using logos and want to highlight/select text.

With that being said, I am sure implementing issues/functions into Logos is a lot harder than it sounds. This work around provides relief, but implementing support for tablets, especially with the rise of tablet laptops/2-in-1s on the rise, it would be worth-while to support such a feature. Thanks for your time!

Without these features, one of my newest computers is rendered useless. Every other app works wonderfully.
We need touch!

The original post is 10 years old now... Logos team, can you please weigh in on whether this is even on the horizon? Basic finger scrolling without having to use the microscopic scroll bar would be a major improvement in tablet mode

highlighting in touch/tablet mode is huge. Please make logos touch friendly!

Logos/Verbum is starting to look very 20th century. You NEED to develop a Windows interface that integrates touch control. The mouse-centric interface is passe and becoming inconvenient.

I have been using Logos 4 on a Windows touchscreen since I first bought it Proper touchscreen support is the only thing that stops me upgrading. Each time a new version is released I look into it to find out if it will finally work well on a touchscreen. So far, no joy. I will upgrade when this is sorted. I know it's technically challenging, but this is much more important to me than any of the new features that have been added in the last few versions. Pen support is number 2 on the list - important, but not as important as touch.

I also would like to see general improvements in touch screen capabilities on Windows 10. I especially like the Bible Table of Contents navigation available on iOS. It would be nice to have the same functionality on my Windows 2-1.

I also would like to see an easier ability to use highlighting on my Ipad. I love to use it to access my logos library but have such a hard time highlighting anything. Thank you!

Add the ability to use pencils on ipads and Surface books to mark up, highlight, etc.

Add features to allow us to use our devices to teach "a la" Piper's Look at the Book mode.

It is essential that touch controls are improved so Logos can be used as an e-book reader.

The most immediately annoying lack of touch compatibility for me is on the home-screen. I always want to be able to scroll through the “articles” with my finger.

I would love to see this coming into the Canvas tool as well. I'd love to be able to use my active stylus effectively as well.

Yes, absolutely, we need touchscreen features. They are basic and should be present in a first class piece of software.

It can't take much, every other program I use on my touchscreen works great.

It was a big unpleasant surprise, when Logos 8 launched, to find out the update left out the touch screen/hand writing features completely and yet again.This is 2019 now, and while Logos is improving in other areas, it's falling significantly behind on the current trend. All the people I know using either tablet or tablet PC utilize hand writing feature in their note taking on their digital resources, and they find it extremely intuitive, enjoyable, and productive. The developers just don't seem to be interested in keeping up with how the world is evolving.

I have been a Logos user since version 4 and used it with my Mac. I just bought a Surface Pro hoping I can utilize and optimize my experience using Logos to read, research, and write. I cannot get any gesture going with my Surface Pro. Hope someone will fix this.

Started with v4, now on v8 and I use logos almost exclusively on my surface pro. The handwriting panel used to be able to be used to write in a variety of text fields, but it no longer works for notes and some other places (and hasnt worked for a year or 2). I was really hoping that v8 would fix this, but just upgraded and it still doesnt work. I also have some difficulty doing things like resizing windows (like the library list) because the touch target is so small you have to be very precise about where you hit it. Same deal with scrolling. Also, the extra symbols on the keyboard dont work (anything that isnt on a regular keyboard).

Playing around with it for about an hour, I found these very basic, presumably easy to fix quirks/bugs.
- Handwriting input panel doesn't work in notes (but does in prayer lists)
- Dragging does not select text in prayer lists (but does in notes)
- In home screen, dragging selects rather than scrolls
- In a Bible, dragging scrolls rather than selecting texts
- In Program Settings, dragging neither scrolls nor selects texts, and if you drag the slider bar, the page scrolls in reverse of how it scrolls if you grab the same slider bar with the mouse! You really have to try this one to believe it.

A word to the developers - with touch, dragging up/down should scroll, whereas dragging left/right should select text. That works flawlessly in TheWord Bible software.
