Add a Textual Variant Tool
Add a new tool for textual criticism like the "Text Comparison" tool, but on the word-level, rather than on the verse-level.
The tool would align each word from a verse into a series of columns. Each row would show how a different Bible version renders that particular word. Users could choose which version to place at the top for alignment purposes, such as having the BHS at the top, with LXX, NASB95, and ESV aligned to the BHS word order below. Non-English versions could have glosses displayed below each word.
The Information Tab already has this functionality on an individual word level. When you click on a word in a Bible with a reverse interlinear, the Information tab shows the variants for that word. The datasets and some of the code for this tool are therefore already complete. The new part about this suggestion is that it would display entire verses with aligned word-for-word textual comparisons in a table that could then be exported into Excel or Word for publication.
This would be a huge timesaver for textual criticism work!
