You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Ability to write notes within the Bible text or any resources

Just like scribbling notes on the actual bible, I would like to see Logos having the ability to do this.

The following is what I've suggested in the forum http://community.logos.com/forums/t/29386.aspx

"From what I'm currently seeing from the bible text that is associated to the note files is how the Visual Filters Menu (the three circles on top of the book's toolbar) controls the overall visual of all the highlighting, notes, etc. on the bible text. We check and uncheck to hide/show those notes and highlights. My point is these visual filters provide an idea on how we can control which note files to receive the scribbling. Since we have the capability to highlight visually, the only thing lacking is the bible text is not integrated with notes taking. Currently, we have to open another window, place them side-by-side, through a couple of clicks, scroll up and down through all the notes in order to add personal notes, and eventually all new ideas are gone by the time we search for the right verse. Through these tedious steps, the square colored box would only appear next to the selected bible text. If we have something like a "Notes Menu" on the toolbar that we can click to create new notes, delete, turn on/off notes taking and to select/deselect which note files to receive scribbling, it would cut back a lot of those troublesome steps. Visually, when note taking is turned on, an empty adjustable margin corresponding to each verse and chapter at the side of the window would be great for writing notes. It helps cross referencing side-by-side in one glance. We type immediately when a fresh idea comes; furthermore, our eyes are still fixing on the biblical text. The hovering of the mouse over the square colored box is good only when we are not intended to write any note but only for references."

  3. Improve graphic viewing within

Wouldn't it be nice to zoom in on a graphic within a resource, instead of saving and using an outside viewer to view it?

  4. Visual Filters List

There should be a list of visual filters that give the title and the filter color or how it is noted. There are a lot of filters and we forget which color we have used for what.

  5. text comparison bar -

Right clicking on the comparison bar allows one to bring up a floating window. But, there is no option to restore it back to its original place. Docking really doesn't do the trick. Also, when right clicking on the Text Comparison Bar, and bringing up the floating window, the colour is black as a background and differences between the Translations is blue. It would be nice if we could have an option to change the colours here.

  6. Add ability to sort and reorder guide templates in Guides menu

The list of custom guide templates on the Guides menu is sorted by order created, and there is no way to sort them alphabetically or drag and reorder the list. Please add this ability.

  8. Include complete TOC in each volume of multi-volume works

In order to browse all the contents of a multi-volume work such as Encyclopedia of Christianity or Karl Barth's "Church Dogmatics" and navigate to another part of the work when you don't know where you're going, you have to open each volume and poke around in each one's TOC pane.

The TOC pane should show a global table of contents covering the entire work with all its volumes. It seems this should be technically feasible since it is possible to navigate directly to a different volume (within the same tab) if you know what to type into the reference box. The problem is, without knowing the contents of the work intimately, you can't do this.

So please make the TOC panes cover the entire work for multi-volume works!

  10. black background

Allow back ground through complete software to be changed to black as an option. Black background is used by the military for looking at computer screens for long periods of time. I have been designing home on a computer for 20 years and I think black ground is the most comfortable back ground in my experience. When I am in a church setting where lighting is low, the black background causes less disturbance to other people in the audience by not being so bright such as a white background which the white background can only be reduced so much by dimming.

  12. Allow users to add hyperlinks

As the number of Logos resources increases, older resources are missing hyperlinks to the newer resources. Use the technology behind notes and clippings to allow users to add their own hyperlinks, with the information stored in a separate hyperlinks file. The links added could be reported to Logos in the same way as typos are, facilitating the updating of the older resources.

  13. Add the ability to create mind maps in Logos 4

Add the ability to create (and share) mind maps in Logos. This would include the ability to link to Logos resources and include the ability to print them out. This would be a great help in sermon prep for many of us that use mind maps software and are stuck cutting and pasting between programs

  14. Link Logos to personal library

    http://community.logos.com/forums/p/29051/215010.aspx#215010
Use ISBN to upload basic citation information on book. User then adds a list of the scripture covered in the book. A new section in the Guide section shows you what books in your own library cover the passage you are studying.

  15. Better Control of Multi-Book Volumes/Works

    Please
    1. Allow us to search for books within multi-work volumes from the Library Screen (perhaps have a sublist under multi-work volumes displaying the different books found within).
    2. Display which book within a multi-work volume a search result is found
    3. Allow us to limit searches within a multi-work volume to a specific book found within that volume.

    See http://community.logos.com/forums/t/29034.aspx

More and more resources are being published as author-based collections were individual books are within a volume of works. This can be a problem when searching as results are displayed as being within a volume of a work and we are not told which specific book within the volume it is found in. These multi-work volumes should be able to be accessed not only as volumes but also as individual books. This was suggested in this forum post responding to Bob's suggestion regarding what we would like to search for but can't: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/27679/213107.aspx#213107

I have recently had this problem when trying to search within only John Owen's Death of Death in the Death of Christ. I had to first find the book within my John Owen Collection. Then open that volume. Then run a search on that volume and have to manually sort through which results from that search fell within Death of Death.

    Please

Now, I'm sure that I will make this sound ridiculously simple to accomplish BUT why can't the developers of the Logos 4 software, create an "addin" that would "decode" the Hebrew and Greek ANYWHERE in our software that we hover over??? If the whole Goal of Logos 4 is to make... academic bible study easy for "dummies" then why not decode the Hebrew and Greek text for us ANYWHERE? The way I see it.. Anytime a person would come to an foreign word in the bible or in one of the commentaries they could just flip a switch, hover over the word in question and something like an magnifying glass would appear...AND your Hebrew or Greek word would be decoded in English ANYWHERE IN YOUR LIBRARY!!! CAN THIS BE DONE??? Now, I know about the "information" window. I'm just thinking outside the box! P.S. I love Logos dearly!!

  17. Make Text Comparison much more versatile

I like to work a verse at-a-time, but with the ability to jump back and forth quickly between a verse-by-verse view with stacked parallel verses, and a full text view in the "primary" version. I used this in BWW, and it was highly efficient. The Text Comparisons tool is very weak. First, you cannot navigate in it. Second, you cannot do word lookups. On Mac, even in 4.2a B4, you cannot select text at all, or copy it. You cannot change the fonts.

If Text Comparisons behaved more like a regular text window, it would mean that I could close a lot of parallel panels and just use one. This would have the blessed consequence of speeding up Logos tremendously.

At minimum: make the text fully interactive, just ilke in any text window. Then we would only need to have two windows open: a main browse window, and a Text Comparison window set to Follow linked open panels.
