Smart Tags for Logos 4
Smart Tags are a must have and may have been found to be the most overlooked and most desired features... Many who didn't know they existed and then saw them in action fell in love immediately

The Bible reference smart tag for Office is included as part of Logos 4.1 (for Windows).
For more details see the support article.

You cannot replace the passage in Office 2016...much to my dismay! It does allow you to open the Bible and study tools...ok, I normally already have it open in another window on another monitor. What really saves me time is replacing the passage!

I used the keylink/smart tags as well and would like to see them back in some way, if possible. Understanding that this seems to be an issue from the Microsoft side does Logos have a suggestion for maintaining this feature outside of Logos. Maybe, Biblia.com or some other route that would allow us the minimal steps to paste scripture into our writing...Thanks

I honestly believe that Smart Tags ought to be more than just "under review" yes I know Logos has a lot of important things to work on, still something needs to be done. I dream of the day when I can use Logos 4 and take L3 off my computer!

Smart tags are essential for me. I have moved to a new OS (64-bit Windows 7) and so only have Logos 4 (and do not want to install the old Logos 3 in addition). I only use Office 2007 thought, so smart tags should be more easily implemented than waiting for an Office 2010 version.

I just upgraded to Logos 4 after many years of using earlier versions. The lack of the smart tag link from Microsoft Word to Logos 4 is a big disappointment. I still use Office 2003, so I cannot contribute to the Office 2010 discussion. Adding the smart tag link to Logos 4 is the top item on my wish list.

Microsoft Office 2010 still has Smart Tags and it works fine with Logos 3.0... why not in Logos 4.0?
All the smart tag recognizers from earlier versions are still included in a clean new install of Microsoft Office 2010 such as Address, Date, Financial, Maps, IM Contacts, Measurement Converter, Telephone #. So Smart Tags is still alive and kicking in 2010 and developers are still open to create them.
Microsoft Office Smart Tags support is the #1 reason why I selected Logos in the first place! It makes creation of bible studies sooooo much easier then copy and pasting. I was disappointed that it is not in Logos 4.0 when I upgraded more then any other feature. Please bring this feature back. I am sure it is not a huge investment of programmer resources to upgrade this existing peice of code for Logos 4.0.

SmartTags in Office 2010 are under Actions now. If we have this functionality under Logos 3x, it is hard to imagine why it can't be done for Logos 4. Here's how to setup SmartTags to work in Word 2010:
1. Install Logos 3x & Smart Tags Update.
2. In Word 2010: File>Options>Proofing>AutoCorrect Options>Actions tab>check Logos Bible Software>OK>OK
3. Type reference: Additional Actions>Copy Bible Verses..>Copy and PasteNot as quick as Word 2007, but you don't have to leave Word to do it. Works for me. Since this works in 2010 and a majority of people use 2007, this would be a worthy addition to Logos 4. (Of course we can alway eat up our harddrive space with down level software to provide the functionality.)

Work around is to leave Logos 3 installed. Make sure it is updated. Enable smart tags in Word 2007 by upper left Office Button in Word, Word Options, Add-Ins, Manage "Smart Tags", Go, Label text with smart tags, Logos Bible Software, OK. This will open Logos 3 when you first use it but you will have the wonderfully useful Replace with Passage for your writings.

@Frank Sauer - According to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178786(VS.100).aspx, "Smart tags are deprecated in Excel 2010 and Word 2010."

@MJSmith - Not sure where you heard this, is there a story... The reason I ask is that I have beta tested Office 2010 and Smart Tags worked perfectly fine, other than one formatting glitch that I was able to adjust. If they are discouraging use, I'd think they would do so in the new version, but using Logos 3.0g, smart tags and Word 2010 - no issues at all...

Note that Smart Tags are being discouraged by Microsoft. It might be good to know what direction Microsoft is taking on this issue before settling on a specific technology.

They were the main use of Logos 3 for a lot of us that knew about them. When installed in Microsoft Word, you could type a scripture reference and when you hit the space bar, a line would appear beneath the reference... Then you could hover over the scripture reference to have an option box pop-up and one of the choice was "replace with passage". When you chose that, Word would draw the scripture via CBV in the format you had set, from the Bible you had a primary... Thus savin all the switching between programs and copy/pasting...
