Focus on Code/Performance Optimization
General program performance improvement (searching, loading, opening, etc) and optimization through optimizing code efficiency.
We have done a lot of work on performance, and continue to optimize the app on both Windows and the Mac.
I am closing this case to free up votes on more specific feature priorities. (You may also want to create new issues for specific performance bottlenecks.)
This does not mean we are done optimizing or improving the product; simply that after two years at the top of the list we know it’s a priority — that can never be completely done — and will continue to work on it.

Logos is a memory hog. PLEASE OPTIMIZE!!

I would like to see the User Interface respond quicker. I do not understand why this is so slow

I've noticed that scrolling through large Notes and Clippings files is extremely sluggish.

This is rather general - I would like to see Notes specifically speeded up a lot.

I have the same problem as John Duffy. The Notes sytem is far too slow to use once you have a lot of notes. Someone told me that Logos have been looking at it since June 2010. I have noticed that it has not improved since then. i think that it is about time that this major problem was fixed.

I too have grossly unacceptable lag in writing notes in L4, with CPU usage maxed out the minute I touch the keyboard, and lag of up to 4-8 seconds being the norm before characters appear on the screen. It really breaks up the flow of typing when having to make corrections, or having to pause to see if some characters have been dropped (which happens on occasions) or to make corrections. It's not a hardware issue since it is not an problem in the slightest for any other Windows program (on a 2 year old laptop). - it has to be a coding issue. Please optimise the coding - it surely can't be impossible to do. For this reason alone, I cannot recommend L4 to anyone, but would like to be able to do so.

Collections are a great asset, but they slow down the program. I hope that in the (near) future, this would not be the case.

logos is great, but is pretty much the only Windows application I use right now which lags - period. Take a leaf out of Microsoft's book with Windows 7, they really focused on optimization of the UI. Like someone already said, it's the perceived performance :).

The most important aspect about performance is the user perceived performance at this point. Simple things like moving a mouse around or page up and page down should not be laggy: that 500ms does have a perceived effect on the user. To me, this is more important than improving search time, for example.

This should be done regardless, Logos should always strive to improve the product without having users vote on it. After all, a faster tool for searching our books is just the fundamental use of the tool itself.
