make NIV available on Iphone/Ipod Touch
This is the most frequently used Bible in America. Not having it available on the Iphone/Ipod touch is limiting the usefulness of your product for many, many users. It's quite inexcusable to offer Bible software without the most popular Bible.
How you go about getting permission, is beside the point, it just needs to be done. A large number of threads from your customers have appeared wondering where it is. It's time to do what is necessary to make this available to your customers. Because having happy customers is going to create the buzz you need for your product.

The NIV is now available on mobile devices.

Thank you! Noted that it is the most recently updated edition as well. Is that what the wait was about?
Unfortunately it appears to yet be missing the original lookup/bible word study features of the other translations. Is this in process of being added/completed?

Looks like it's available on mobile devices now :-)

Please make this available. I will continue to defer to Tecarta Bible until this is fixed as the NIV is my primary Bible in any category and this is just unacceptable.

Is there any update of the status of this?

Hang in there Bob 'n Gang! Logos has provided the community with amazing solutions, and I'm sure with persistence and patience, it'll all work out. License details are oh such fun, aren't they? I'm sure many options have been discussed, put on the table, rolled around, tossed around (some in better directions than others). Keep up the good work!

We are still in discussions with Zondervan. I'm afraid in this case that whoever is answering their email is not in conversation with whoever is handling their contracts, because we do not yet have the permission required. We are in active conversation, and this is a top priority for us, but we can't move ahead without permission, which we do not have.

Zondervan's response below indicates that the issue is 100% in your control. If that is indeed the case, then the omission of this resource from the iPad IS "inexcusable" - at least the excuse you cite is incorrect. Please update the status of progress on this issue - at least provide the real reason that this is not yet available.

I just got the following response from Zondervan - looks like Logos has permission from Zondervan!
Thank you for contacting Zondervan.
I apologize that you were given incorrect information. Logos does have permission to supply their customer the use of Zondervan titles on iPads. In regards to the NIV, Zondervan and Logos are currently working on this and hopes to have something in place soon.
Logos sent the following information back to Zondervan regarding the information you gave us.
Our CS manager sent a reminder to all of our staff regarding Zondervan content on our mobile platforms. So, everyone should once again be up to speed on this and should not be telling any customer that the content isn't accessible.
Thank you

It really is hard for me to understand how Zondervan is okay with me viewing the NIV on my laptop but not on my iPad/iPhone.... What exactly do they think I'm going to do? Its not like I'm viewing it on both at the same time. I'm not going to buy another paper NIV just so I can use it at church or on the go. What exactly is their reason for holding back on this?

Maybe pressure from Logos is not enough. Perhaps if we all emailed Zondervan and pressured them we'd get them to do something.

This is a quote from a November 2010 press release:
Logos Bible Software is pleased to announce the continuation of our partnership with Zondervan to make 47 new books available in Logos Bible Software—in addition to the 87 books already available.
Obviously "you are not trying hard enough! I am not buying anything from Zondervan or Logos until you two "partners" are more concerned about your customers than your bottom line.

I Just upgraded from 3-4 to discover that i already had most of what i wanted on my iphone app except the NIV. You can imagine my disappointment to discover that although the library of my Logos 4 would be available, the NIV is not.
This is not good or at least needs to be clearly stated!
I Guess
"Not only can you browse through your library, but Logos Bible Software allows you to search your entire library for any word or phrase."
Means not your 'entire library'? -

I am still trying to figure out why others can have it and in the case of YouVersion offer it for free, but Logos cannot. Perhaps you should visit with other app providers and find out how they accomplished this seemingly impossible task. This issue is becoming a tipping point for the future of the app for me.

Bob - why do others have it?

Somehow the folks at YouVersion have the NIV (both 1984 and 2010) on their app. I don't think it will save it to the phone, but that is workable (it would be even better if I could save it to the phone). This is the main translation I use and it would be great if, like YouVersion, it could be worked out with them.

I have come from other iPhone apps (BibleScope, Mantis), and talked directly with the App Developers, where it took months of negotiating with Zondervan to secure rights to the text for iOS. "We are doing everything we can to get them to give us permission" is quite consistent, and quite plausible. In one case, Zondervan simply did not respond. I might question that this is really good stewardship, but probably just need to Pray.
To the good folks at Logos- Please be persistent. A lot of your customers have a lot invested in the NIV, myself included. Bible study in the NIV on a portable device is a way of Life that is currently frustrated.
