Save/update Layout without needing to remember its name / Name of layout in title bar
Currently there is no way to know which layout is currently loaded. It would be good to have the name of the currently loaded layout displayed in the title bar.
Also, the way L4 is updating layouts is not intuitive enough. You have to remember which layout you have opened before you can update it.
It would be good to have an option in the layout menu to save/update the current layout without needing to remember its name.

Logos 5.0b added the concept of an “active layout”. The active layout’s name is displayed in the title bar. You can click “Update active” in the Layouts menu (or press Ctrl+Alt+L/Cmd+Alt+L) to update the active layout without having to remember its name.

Yes! This would be wonderful! I mistakenly deleted a layout just last week when I hit the wrong layout and "update to current layout" button. Thanks!

Amen to all the comments. It is really frustrating that Logos doesn't indicate (in the title bar?) what the current layout is. I have several layouts that look similar, and it would be really helpful glance at the title bar and see the title of the layout. Also, why can't we just hit control+save to update the current layout?

Please, just a simple Cmd-S to save, just like in every other application.

I have to admit that as a new Logos user, the layout system seems almost useless in it's current form.
My immediate expectation was that it would save the panel and book selections while remembering my place in each book.
It made no sense to me that when I went back to a layout, it was back at the position in each book that it was when I saved it rather than where I left off :-(It would be great to be able to set a layout to auto-save mode or at least link it to a File > Save type situation so I can just hit Cmd+S and the currently loaded layout is saved/updated.

What is taking so long to get this working? I have a lot of layouts and many of times it is hard to remember which layout you are in. This was posted back in April of 2010

This would definitely be a great help, having it in the title bar so we know which one we are saving. It would make updating much easier.

This is especially needed when one has several similar layouts. I would like to see it designated as something like "last activated layout" or "last recalled layout." This is because the instant you do anything in Logos the "layout" (aka "snapshot") changes. Layouts are saved concrete occurrences which one modifies not abstract models.

I would love to have the layout name of the layout I am using visible. I too have related layouts and have saved to the incorrect one.
Thanks for the opportunity to "weigh in" on this topic. Wayne

That would be wonderful! I have a Sermon layout and a Midweek Service layout. I would be able to see what I am studying so I don't get them mixed up! Our midweek service is on Thursday so I have to do a lot of work on both messages at one time! I have my votes all scattered out so I will have to vote later but "I shall return"
