Add overlays of ancient and current day geography.

I agree. In addition to these features, I would have a way to remove the blue "overview" map in the corner. It gets in the way of viewing, especially when zooming in on a map.

I agree that this should be a priority at some point. The impressive map module of Bibleworks is one of its features that blows the competition out of the water (in that area). As a Logos-guy, I would love to see L4 add more map functionality like Bibleworks7-9 offer.

I would say, I do like the biblical places and maps in Logos - they're very practical for study and normally give me what I need. But I do find myself going to BW9 when the locations in a passage are limited in my Logos maps.

Where Logos stands apart is the ability for the interface to detect various maps and pictures throughout one's library, even apart form the base package. When I bought the ESV Study Bible Notes, I was amazed to see the integration into the map features!

Still, this could all use some more work to be the clear leader in the Bible study maps arena.

Yes! I agree with all 4 points.
Having a variety of maps is helpful for different time periods, but when I'm preaching or teaching I'd like to customize a map so that I only select info for Paul's first missionary journey or I can show the royal official's journey (in John 4) from Capernaum to Cana without all of Jesus' other miracles or journeys.

As I have suggested many times, the maps need to be editable. Remove or add place as needed for a lesson. The current maps are fine in Logos, but when I copy and paste I lose resolution and zoomed size. The best program for this was Parson's Bible Atlas which would not work on XP and above. The same with Logos Bible maps.

On #4, you can measure straight lines (and radius distances) by holding down the Ctrl key and dragging the mouse.

Very good ideas, and I support them in that order. I also favor general improvement to Biblical Places, including collapsible UI, more subtle zooming, searching for map names, etc.

I agree. We have asked for improved maps for years now literally. I finally gave up and bought another Mac Bible programme to do mapping wth.

1-3. All good suggestions. For #3, in the absence of that feature in Logos, you can use any of a number of free screen capture utilities which allow you to select a rectangle on the screen to copy to the clipboard or print or save to a file. I use CaptureWiz Pro which is not free, but it does everything. Jing is sweet, free, it doesn't do printing directly but you can copy/paste or save to a .png file and then print that. Yes, I still agree, though, it would be nice if Logos provided built-in cropping.
4. Did you know you can already measure distances in the maps in Biblical Places (in straight lines only)? Ctrl+click on a place and drag the mouse to another place, and you'll see the distance shown in both miles and kilometers: see http://i50.tinypic.com/141kx2s.png
